Duke Human Resources will host Financial Fitness Week May 22-25, 2017, when staff and faculty can attend free seminars to learn more about Duke's retirement plans, preparing a budget, handling investments and more.
Financial Fitness Week will feature "Cyber Monday" online webinars, a Duke retirement vendor information fair, and workshops throughout the week. Some of the workshops will focus on certain age groups, such "Millennials: Ditch the Debt and Start Saving" (for age 35 and younger), "Cash Management" for mid-career employees ages 35 to 55, and other workshops for age 55 and older.

This four-hour workshop is designed to provide you with valuable information about the benefits available to you in retirement. The workshop covers critical issues such as determining how much savings you will need for retirement and investing strategies before and during retirement. Specific attention will be given to selecting a health plan, balancing investments, Social Security rules, tips on choosing a financial advisor, distribution options and estate planning. It will also cover your Duke retirement plans(s) distribution options, the eligibility for retiree benefits and the impact of meeting the Rule of 75 and the impact on retiree benefits.
