The owner Troy grows and sells a wide variety of fruits and vegetables to sell both at local markets and the 370-acre farm. He prides himself in providing the local community with fresh and quality fruits and vegetables. The farm located at 1544 Munns Rd Creedmoor, NC is open seasonally for U Pick strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, peaches, and tomatoes. You can also find Lyon Farms at the Carrboro and Durham farmers market every Wednesday (seasonally) and Saturday (year-round).

Bio: Zephyr Family Farm is owned and run solely by Amanda and Steven Harrell. In 2021, they turned neglected land with no infrastructure into a thriving market farm by building irrigation systems and restoring vitality to the soil using farming techniques like cover cropping and incorporating organic matter from the farm like woodchips and pine straw. They also work to encourage and support the microbial and fungal life in their soil by using the most minimal till practices possible and incorporating things like biochar and spent mushroom blocks into the soil. They never use chemical pesticides or fertilizers, and instead rely on bacterial sprays and natural ingredients such as Kaolin clay to protect produce from bug damage. They specialize in growing Southern heirlooms and plants from around the world that grow well in our changing climate. For example, they grow Appalachian heirloom green beans, which they describe as “the best you’ll ever eat”. They also grow sour leaf, known as gongura, which is “an absolutely delicious green with lemony flavor” from South East Asia.
