If You Feel Sick
Employees experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should report their symptoms to Employee Occupational Health & Wellness (EOHW), schedule testing and self-isolate You can report new symptoms or exposures through My COVID Link or by contacting the Employee Health Exposure Hotline.
1. Report new symptoms or exposures through My COVID Linkby following the instructions below:
- Click on My COVID Link
- Follow instructions to complete the submission
- Be sure to click Submit
- Check your Duke email for scheduling instructions and link
- Locations:

- Morreene Road at 1400 Morreene Road, Durham
- Duke Raleigh at 3300 Executive Drive, Raleigh
- Access your results in your Duke MyChart account
2. You may also contact the Duke Employee Health Exposure Hotline to report symptoms or seek guidance.
- Call 919-385-0429, Option 1
- Hours: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., M - F, and 8 a.m. - noon on weekends
- After hour urgent concerns, call the Duke emergency operator for the exposure nurse on call at 919-684-8115
3. Or, you can call 919-613-0520 to submit your symptom survey using an automated voice response system. You will need your 7-digit Duke Unique ID ready when you call.
Submitting Outside Test Results
Home or outside positive test results can be reported to Employee Occupational Health & Wellness (EOHW) by following the instructions below:
- Click on My COVID Link
- On the My COVID Link page, click on Submit link
- Follow instructions to complete the submission
- Be sure to click Submit
- Check your Duke email for additional instructions from EOHW
Employee COVID Testing
- Click on My COVID Link
- On the My COVID Link page, click on Report New Symptoms link
- Follow instructions to complete the submission
- Be sure to click Submit
- Check your Duke email for scheduling instructions and link

Access to Care
- If you are ill, please contact your Primary Care Physician (PCP) or visit Urgent Care. If the situation is critical, visit the nearest Emergency Department.
- If you don't have a PCP, you can Find a Doctor through the Duke Health website.
- You may also seek antiviral treatment or monoclonal antibodies by calling 919-385-0431.
Masking
- Masking is required in all clinical care locations as well as waiting rooms, nurses’ stations, and hallways within medical units or clinics.
- Masking is optional in non-patient care areas in all buildings including workrooms, breakrooms, conference rooms, shared offices, administrative areas, public hallways, cafeterias, restaurants, gift shops, etc.
- Masking is required after mandatory isolation to complete the requisite 10 days total following COVID-19 infection.
- Masking is required for anyone with new respiratory symptoms even after testing negative for COVID-19.
- If you develop any respiratory symptoms and test negative for COVID, you should still mask anytime you are indoors as long as you are symptomatic to protect others.
Quarantine
- EOHW does not quarantine any employees following exposure to COVID-19.
- If you have been exposed to a known positive case, you should monitor for symptoms and test 3-5 days after the last exposure, or immediately if symptoms develop.
When to Return to Work After Testing Positive
- You must isolate from others for 5 days (7 days for healthcare workers)
- You must have improving symptoms with the absence of fever, diarrhea or vomiting for at least 24 hours
- If your symptoms persist or get worse after the required isolation period, call the Employee Health Exposure Hotline to discuss the need for additional time out of work.
- You must wear an N95 or a well-fitting mask for 10 days after symptom onset or from your test date if asymptomatic.
- You should not have any unmasked time with others during this time.
