Associate Vice President for Total Rewards
Joyce Williams, JD, MBA serves as the Associate Vice President for Total Rewards for the University and Health System with oversight responsibility for Duke’s benefits, compensation and classification, and workers’ compensation programs.
She is a seasoned professional with 35 years of human resources experience in the higher education and health care sectors. Joyce has worked at Duke for 28 years in various roles within benefits, compensation and workers’ compensation. She manages a complex portfolio with critical legal and regulatory requirements and led the expansion of Duke’s well-regarded benefit programs during her tenure.
In addition to holding a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the State University of New York at Albany, Joyce is a Duke alumnus with an MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business and a Juris Doctorate from N.C. Central University. She is a licensed NC attorney, mediator, a Senior Certified Professional in the Society for Human Resources Management (SCP-SHRM), and a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. She is a graduate of the Duke Leadership Academy and Duke’s Fuqua Health Sector Management program.
