Bio:
Joy has been part of L&OD team at Duke for the past 5.5 years, serving both the University and the Medical System. She brought her experience in teaching, instructional design, curriculum development, leadership coaching and best practices in adult education. She was able to contribute to the team's work by organizing the L&OD Catalog, updating coursework and creating new courses. Two years ago, Joy received a promotion, moving from a Senior Practitioner to Assistant Director of Leadership and Professional Development, handling everything that relates to open registration classes. She now oversees the Duke Management Academy Program.
Joy has worked over 30 years in the Management Training and Professional Development arena. She received my Master's Degree in Adult Education from NCSU prior to joining the Learning & Development staff at SAS, where she worked for the next 13 years. Joy began as a Management Trainer for the first five years at SAS and then designed and piloted a Leadership Coaching Initiative for one year. The pilot was so successful that she was promoted to the Manager of the Performance Development Consulting Department, where Joy trained my previous T&D colleagues to coach leaders. She managed seven direct reports for the next seven years offering manager and employee training, workshops for organization development, leadership coaching, and meeting facilitation services.
