Duke Learning & Organization Development’s SHRM Certification Exam Preparation course is a 10-week, in-person exam review learning experience designed to provide a cohort of Duke employees committed to earning their SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification with information and resources to supplement their individual study preparation.

This comprehensive program will provide a review of the SHRM Body of Applied Skills & Knowledge, interactive discussions, sample exam questions and periodic progress checks to build upon the foundation you establish through the SHRM Learning System. This system, combined with an in-person, facilitated cohort experience, will help ensure that you’re well-prepared on exam day.

Completion of this course does not guarantee success on the certification exam. It is expected that individuals dedicate significant study time outside of the classroom to be fully prepared.

SHRM-CP: Certified Professional

For individuals performing HR or HR-related duties or pursuing a career in Human Resources (basic working knowledge in HR is recommended). Your current or most recent work in HR is operational in nature and duties are more specialized rather than general.

  • SHRM-CP is right for you if:
    • You have not obtained a bachelor’s degree but have spent at least three years in an HR role
    • You have obtained a bachelor’s degree and spent at least one year in an HR role
    • You have obtained graduate degree and are working in an HR role

SHRM-SCP Senior Certified Professional

For individuals with a work history of at least three years performing strategic level HR or HR-related duties; or for SHRM-CP credential holders who have held the credential for at least three years and are working in, or are in the process of transitioning to, a strategic level role.

  • SHRM-SCP is right for you if:
    • You have not obtained a bachelor’s degree but spent at least six years in an HR role
    • You have obtained a bachelor’s degree and spent at least four years in an HR role
