DukeALERT Test
As part of Duke's ongoing emergency management efforts, the DukeALERT notification system is tested regularly every year to assess technical and operational capabilities and help shape expectations and behavior among students, faculty and staff about how they would hear about an emergency and the actions they would take in response.
The DukeALERT test, which is communicated broadly beforehand to ensure broad awareness of notification methods among new and existing Duke community members, reinforces the appropriate actions individuals should take during an emergency.
The test is conducted once during the fall and spring semesters and once during the summer, when the campus population is significantly different.
