RE:strong>Several Operational Changes Announced

Duke has made several operational changes in response efforts to limit the potential spread of COVID-19 and implications related to reduced traffic on campus.

Road/Lane Closures
On Friday, access from both ends of Towerview Road will be restricted to all vehicular traffic. Entrance to West Campus will be directed primarily through Science Drive or Research Drive. Access to the Blue Zone parking lot will be restricted from Duke University Road beginning Friday, but the lot can still be accessed from Towerview Road.

On Tuesday, several other roads on West and East Campuses will also be restricted. On West Campus those include Wannamaker Drive, Edens Drive and Chapel Drive from Duke University Road. On East Campus the restricted roads will include Southgate Circle, Epworth Dorm Lane, Baldwin Loop, and Brodie Gym Drive.

Package Delivery
With controlled access to buildings on campus, package delivery services such as FedEx and UPS have been directed to drop packages at a central receiving location at Golden Warehouse.

The Golden Warehouse is staffed by Procurement from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and will be receiving and storing shipments until buildings are opened up. Once packages are received, the receiving team will notify the intended recipient so arrangements can be made for pick up or storage. Please check the Procurement website periodically for additional details including arrangements for specialty items (gases, refrigeration, etc.).

Marine Lab Closing
The Duke Marine Lab will be closed as of 5 p.m. Friday, March 20, until further notice. This step is being taken to allow students, staff and faculty to remain home and practice social distancing. During this period, security will be stationed at the Lab entrance and only essential personnel will be allowed to access campus.

Additional updates will be made as information becomes available. Please visit the Duke Coronavirus Response website for the latest information. Thanks to the many people who continue to step up and fulfill needs as they are identified.
