RE: Redesigning the Recruiting, Hiring and Onboarding Process
Finding the best talent to fulfill our missions is among our most important responsibilities, so Duke is redesigning the process for recruiting, hiring and onboarding new staff that will significantly improve the experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
Duke receives nearly 150,000 employment applications a year, and the new system offered by SAP’s Success Factors will provide a more efficient and streamlined approach that offers a complete view of the recruiting and onboarding process from posting the original requisition to hiring the candidate.
The new system will feature several key enhancements, including:
- a streamlined interface that is more compatible with mobile devices,
- greater visibility of the status of pre-employment steps such as background checks and health screening,
- creation of the Duke Unique ID and NetID earlier in the process to simplify access to Duke resources, and
- integration of the onboarding process to put new employees on payroll faster by collecting tax forms, direct deposit and other information before the start date.
Potential candidates will be able to submit an email address or resume to quickly express interest in opportunities at Duke through a new Careers page on the Duke Human Resources or the Duke Nursing website. Current Duke employees will apply through SuccessFactors using a simplified interface.
We will transition to Success Factors beginning June 15. HR representatives, payroll representatives and business managers have already received an overview of the system and how it works. Online and on-site training will begin in May for hiring managers. In-depth overview sessions, including a demonstration of the tool along with online videos, will be available in May. Information about the schedule for the overview sessions will be communicated later this month. For now, you can watch a brief video overview of the Manager Dashboard for the new Success Factors system.
We also need your help to review and delete any old requisitions that may be in the Candidate Selection tool by May 1 so they are not transferred to the new system. Those who have requisitions older than 120 days will receive additional instructions to close inactive searches.
Success Factors will offer a higher quality recruitment experience, create greater efficiencies for hiring managers and better connect Duke to the talent we need to drive our success. Thank you for your partnership as we launch this redesign process.
