RE:       Healthy Duke: Week of Wellness

In April, we announced a new endeavor to engage students, faculty, and staff across the Duke community to help each of us live healthier, improve our quality of life, and realize our full human potential. Now, it’s time to begin the work to deliver on the promise of the Healthy Duke movement.

We have planned a “Week of Wellness” from Sept. 11-15 to showcase the many resources, benefits, and services available to members of the Duke community to address various aspects of their health. Each day, we’ll focus on one of the five core themes of Healthy Duke:

  • Monday: Mental & Emotional Wellbeing
  • Tuesday: Environment & Culture
  • Wednesday: Physical Activity & Movement
  • Thursday: Fulfillment & Purpose
  • Friday: Food & Nutrition

There is a schedule of events and activities planned every day during the week. Because many of you work in remote locations outside the main campus in Durham, an Event Planning Toolkit has also been developed to assist you in planning different ways you and your team can participate.

Please coordinate with your leadership team to discuss how best to allow people in your respective areas to engage in the activities and events for the Week of Wellness. This is the first step in our collective journey to toward a Healthy Duke. We will only be successful if we each take an active role in this endeavor and support each other along the way.

Additional communications will be forthcoming next week to promote the “Week of Wellness,” and we ask that you share this information with those in your areas and encourage their participation. For more information, visit http://healthy.duke.edu. Thank you.
