RE: Duke to Extend the Severe Weather Policy to 7 a.m. Tuesday
The severe weather policy for Duke University and Duke University Health System will be extended until 7 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11.
Please notify your staff and implement departmental severe weather plans as appropriate. All staff in “Essential Service" positions should report to work or remain at work when the policy is in effect.
DUHS and PDC Leadership will be communicating detailed information about continuing operations at critical outpatient clinics and procedural areas for Monday Dec. 10 later this afternoon.
Professional schools that had exams scheduled for Monday will be putting contingency plans in place. Individual schools will communicate details as appropriate. Perkins Library is open today and expects to be on a normal schedule for the remainder of the day and on Monday. Wilson Recreation Center will plan to open at noon on Monday.
Crews on campus have been clearing roads and sidewalks during the day, but icy areas will likely persist overnight as temperatures remain below freezing. Duke community members should refer to the priority clearing map to determine the preferred paths of travel and avoid steps that have been cordoned off for safety.
Duke’s Facilities Management Department will coordinate with Duke Energy on any power outages at Duke-owned or leased buildings off campus. Outages can be reported to Facilities Management at 919-684-2122.
