The American Cancer Society marks the Great American Smokeout on Thursday, November 16, 2017 by encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day. By quitting - even for one day - smokers will be taking an important step towards a healthier life - one that can lead to reducing cancer risk.
During the Great American Smokeout, LIVE FOR LIFE staff will rove locations throughout Duke, promoting cessation and support programs. Staff will be available to speak with employees about how to quit, help others quit, and how to find a cessation program that best fits their needs. LIVE FOR LIFE's schedule is as follows :
- Monday, Nov. 13: All day, LIVE FOR LIFE staff will roam Duke Regional Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital, Duke University School of Nursing and Patient Revenue Management Organization.
- Tuesday, Nov. 14: Around lunchtime, LIFE FOR LIFE staff and Student Wellness staff will be at East Campus Marketplace and the Brodhead Center.
- Wednesday, Nov. 15: From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. LIVE FOR LIFE staff and other representatives will be near Duke University Hospital's front bus stop.
