The Importance of Staying Hydrated
Staying hydrated and drinking fluids is a crucial step in staying healthy and maintaining the function of each system in our body. Our bodies are made up of 60% water and the fluids we consume throughout the day contribute to maintaining this balance. Foods with high water content, along with water and other beverages, contribute to your daily fluid intake. On average we receive 20% of our daily water intake from food. If you're drinking enough water, your urine will be clear to pale yellow. Signs that you may not be drinking enough include dark colored urine, headache, low energy, muscle cramps, and a lack of sweating during exercise.
Benefits of Drinking Water
- Keep your temperature normal
- Lubricate and cushion joints
- Protect your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues
