Favorite place at Duke?
I love walking around campus, enjoying the awesome buildings designed by architect Julian Abele.
Why did you join Duke?
I have eight relatives who are medical doctors, two of whom were working at Duke University Health System in 2002, the year I relocated here. They believed Duke would benefit from my knowledge and experience, and I would find joy in being a part of something changing lives in the medical and education spaces. My intrigue with the medical field came from my dad, who lived for 12 years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1962. That was and is still uncommon, and his journey is now documented in medical journals. My mom was a teacher and taught us the value of education and life-long learning. I have found joy in my work here at Duke for the past 21 years. I know that Duke’s employee value proposition is the cornerstone for attracting, engaging and retaining top talent, and the institution is committed to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. The work I do matters, and the work we do collectively impacts the lives of many in a positive rewarding way.
