Vacation/Sick Leave/Holidays (University)
Campus and Medical Center staff accrue benefit time using a traditional vacation, holiday, and sick time model. Please note: Duke Health System staff must schedule time off in accordance with the Paid Time Off policy.
Paid Time Off (DUHS)
Duke University Health System (DUHS) provides paid time off for eligible employees for the purpose of rest, relaxation, illness, holidays, personal, and family needs.
Leaves of Absence
Duke recognizes that, during a regular staff member's career, circumstances may arise which require prolonged absence from work. Leaves of absence are available for this purpose. A leave of absence requires the approval of the requesting employee's department.
Flexible Work Options
Supervisors and staff have used flexible work arrangements to find creative ways of meeting business needs while providing greater flexibility than traditional work arrangements. Duke has formal guidelines to help support supervisors and employees in establishing these arrangements. You will also find descriptions of different options, tips for introducing a flex arrangement and tools and templates for doing so.
