RE:  Severe Weather Policy Extended to 10 a.m. Friday

The severe weather and emergency conditions policy has been extended to 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, and all classes beginning before 10 a.m. are canceled. Duke will return to normal operations afterward.

All hospital-based clinics at Duke University Hospital, Duke Regional Hospital, and Duke Raleigh Hospital will operate on a normal schedule Friday.

All off-site PDC clinics, Duke Primary Care continuity clinics and Duke Urgent Care clinics will delay opening until 10 a.m. Friday.

Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by Friday morning, which should assist with melting on area roads. Crews have made extraordinary efforts during the night and early morning to clear and salt all priority 1 roads and sidewalks on the university and medical center campus.

Icy spots may still exist, especially in shaded areas, so Duke community members are strongly encouraged to use caution when traveling to and around campus and use priority 1 snow/ice clearing routes that have been the focus of clearing efforts.

Updates on major campus operations such as busing, dining, events, and stores will be posted on the DukeALERT website

Thank you for keeping your staff informed and for helping maintain essential operations during this time.
