RE: | Open Enrollment for 2021 Benefits |
In the coming weeks, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to review their personal and family needs and enroll or make changes in their medical, dental, vision and reimbursement account benefits for 2021.
The enrollment period this year will begin at noon on Monday, Oct. 19 and end at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30. This annual period is the only time faculty and staff can enroll or make changes to these benefits outside of a qualifying life event such as marriage or the birth of a child.
This year, the importance of having quality health insurance has been highlighted by the devastating pandemic that has gripped our country and the world. At Duke, we are fortunate to have exceptional and affordable coverage, as well as access to world-class experts and care through Duke Health.
In addition, we have introduced new features to our health plans to provide additional support to you and your family during this challenging time. For instance, telehealth and virtual visits to your health care provider are now covered to limit the potential for viral transmission through on-site visits.
While the cost of coverage continues to climb nationally, Duke’s monthly premiums for health insurance will only increase between $1 and $8 per month for individual coverage, depending on the plan. In addition, there will be no increases next year in premiums or out-of-pocket costs for dental or vision insurance.
More information will be communicated in the coming weeks, including a comprehensive guide that will be mailed home. You will find more details on the Open Enrollment website. Please take time to review the presentation, and then share and discuss this important information with your staff. Thank you.
