RE:  Game-Day Operations for Friday Football Game

Duke’s campus and the surrounding area will see significant traffic congestion on Friday evening for the nationally televised football game on ESPN against the University of Miami.

The impact on campus during the business day should be modest. The Provost has announced that there will be no changes to class schedules on Friday. However, health care staff working second shift at Duke Medical Center on Friday should allow extra travel time to get to work. Gates on lots used for game-day parking will be opened at 5 p.m. to accommodate game-day traffic.

The game represents a special opportunity for Duke, and we encourage all members of the community to attend the game to support the Duke Football program and our student-athletes, coaches and staff. Special discounts are available to faculty and staff for the football game. On Friday, we invite all students, faculty and staff to wear Duke blue on Friday as a show of support.

Community members attending the game are asked to carpool, or ride a shuttle if possible, and allow extra time to get to their destination and park. Uniformed officers and event staff will be on-site to provide direction.
