The online registration system processes registrations and sends confirmation
notices in real time.
PLEASE BE
SURE TO CAREFULLY ENTER YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND YOUR SUPERVISOR'S SO THAT
YOU BOTH RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION NOTICE.
If
you do not receive a confirmation within one hour
of registering (to allow occasionally sluggish networks time to forward
email), please notify us so that we can follow up
and make sure you get into the workshop(s) you want.
If you are registering for a workshop happening the
very next day, please call and alert us. This way we
can make certain that instructors have the most current
roster, and any class materials used are ready for
you. Materials that require advance ordering may not
be available and may need to be sent to you afterwards.
IF YOU PAID USING DEPARTMENT FUNDS,
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SUPERVISOR OR DEPARTMENT
BUSINESS OFFICE HAVE A COPY OF YOUR REGISTRATION FORM AND/OR
OUR CONFIRMATION NOTICE FOR FINANCIAL RECORDS.
Payment information is required for workshops
that have a fee. Many departments can provide time
off and/or funds to cover the cost of job-related
training. Please check with your supervisor. You may pay
by:
- SAP R/3 cost object number:
A preferred method per Financial Services guidelines.
- Credit Card or Procurement
Card (Mastercard or Visa only):
Procurement cards are honored as a convenience
to Duke staff, however Financial Services guidelines
discourage this payment method for in-house transactions.
Transaction fees are charged, and these funds leave
Duke.
PLEASE NOTE THAT PAYMENTS BY CREDIT AND PROCUREMENT CARD PAYMENTS ARE PROCESSED THROUGH "DUKEPAY," DUKE'S CREDIT CARD PROCESSING SYSTEM. TO ELIMINATE THE SECURITY RISK OF STORING CREDIT CARD INFORMATION LOCALLY, THESE CHARGES ARE PROCESSED IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS THE CASE WHETHER YOU ARE FULLY REGISTERED OR PUT ON A WAITLIST. THEREFORE WE RECOMMEND YOU ALWAYS USE AN SAP R/3 COST OBJECT NUMBER INSTEAD.
- IRI:
A preferred method per Financial
Services guidelines. Enter the SAP R/3 cost object
number and fax the IRI with a completed registration form
to 613-7621. A fax is sufficient; you do not
need to mail originals.
- Check or cash:
Please register
and pay in-person. Make checks payable to "Duke Learning
& Organization Development.
All cancellation and rescheduling requests must be
in writing. Please complete the Cancellation/
Rescheduling Form or send an email to learning@mc.duke.edu. If you are rescheduling,
please list the date of the next session you want
to attend. Cancellation and rescheduling requests
are subject to the following policies:
- If you reschedule at least one week in advance,
the workshop fee will be applied to the next session
you register for.
- If you cancel at least one week in advance, the
workshop fee will be cancelled in full, or if already charged
to procurement card or credit card, refunded in
full.
- If you cancel or reschedule less than one week
in advance, or do not attend the workshop, the full
workshop fee will be processed. These fees are
not transferable to future workshops. You may send
someone in your place; please notify us about the substitution
before the workshop session.
All classes will begin on time. Please plan to arrive
about ten minutes early to sign in and get settled.
If you you will be more than twenty minutes late for
a workshop at Oregon Street, please contact us to
save your seat
(613-7613). Otherwise, your space
may be given to a "walk-in" participant.
Some workshops, especially our computer workshops,
have prerequisites or require equivalent experience.
It is important that you only register for workshops
just above your current skill level. For computer workshops, please click on the workshop
title a second time to skip past the short description
and get the detailed lesson plan.
Please assess your skills to make certain that any
prerequisites or equivalent experience have been met.
Generally, if you have about 90% of the skills
listed on a lesson plan, you will be able to participate
in the next level up without difficulty. If you have less than 90% of those skills, we recommend registering for the class you are looking at.
If you have questions about workshop content or prerequisites, please
contact
Srini Iyengar, our computer technology instructor, at 613-7616.
For directions and maps, please see www.hr.duke.edu/train/locations.htm.
Free parking is available in the lot in front of
our buildings at 402 and 406 Oregon Street. Overflow
parking is available in the small lot behind building
402 and on the west sides of Alexander and Oregon
Streets. (Please do not park in the lot beside the
Duke Police Station or the Episcopal Center.)
All Duke permits are valid in our front lot. If you
do not have a Duke permit, please ask your instructor
for a temporary pass immediately upon your arrival
- do not wait for a break. Display the pass on your
dashboard.
Duke University buses C1, C2 and C3 stop near us
on Campus Drive or Alexander Street, within five minutes
walking distance or less. During the school year,
they run approximately every ten minutes. Please see
schedules and routes at www.parking.duke.edu. During breaks, routes are combined and lengthened, and buses run less frequently. We do not recommend using the bus system during breaks.
If the University declares the Severe Weather Policy
is in effect, our workshops will be cancelled and
our buildings will be closed. To determine if the
severe weather policy is in force, please call 684-4636.
Please note that media announcements about "classes
at Duke" apply only to graduate and undergraduate
classes - not to workshops at L&OD. Once our office
is open again, we will promptly reschedule any cancelled
workshops or transfer you to an upcoming session already
on the calendar.
Casual business attire is appropriate. Room temperature
may vary, so please bring a jacket or a sweater.
