Presented by HR/ Staff & Family Programs. Since the 1970s, America has experienced drastic demographic and technological change. Today, 75% of women with dependent children work, compared with 25% a generation ago. Technological advances enable people to work from remote locations and communicate instantaneously. While these changes allow for increased flexibility, they can also add stress. Objectives:
- examine the impact of social and technological changes on the world of work-with a focus on Duke demography and workforce research
- review the field of work/life; a rich area of research, policy, and practice responding to our changing world
- examine case studies of diverse work areas at Duke where work/life strategies have been implemented to improve work culture and quality
- explore tools for effectively addressing work/life challenges
