Learn about tobacco cessation resources during the American Cancer Society's sponsored Great American Smoke Out, Thursday, November 19, 2009.
More than 70 percent of smokers report wanting to quit, and one of the most powerful motivators for doing so is a tobacco-free environment. Since Duke Medical
Center went tobacco free in July 2007, over 1000 employees and their dependents have enrolled in tobacco cessation programs through LIVE for LIFE.
The Great American Smoke Out is America's Quit Day. During the week leading up to November 19th, LIVE FOR LIFE staff will be available to speak with employees
about how to quit, how to help others quit, and how to find a program that best fits their needs. Find out about free research-tested programs and enhanced treatments
provided by Duke to help you or a loved one quit for good.
Information tables will be set up in 4 Duke locations on November 19, 10 AM-2 PM as well as two days prior to event to help those quitting or preparing to quit.
Employees who visit the table can sign-up for a free drawing to win a "Cold Turkey" (a frozen Thanksgiving Turkey.) Drawing will take place on the November 19.
Winners will be contacted on that same day.
