Other Places to Run or Walk

Here are a few local places to enjoy your run or walk in addition to the Run/Walk Club locations.

Raleigh

Lake Johnson
Just off the bridge on Avent Ferry Road
The lake features 3.5 miles of paved trail and 1.9 miles of natural trail around the beautiful scenery of Lake Johnson.

Pullen Park
East end of the North Carolina State University main campus
The park boasts a 1.25 mile perimeter, and a little lagoon at its southern tip. You can access about 3 miles of greenbelt bike trails along Western Boulevard.

Umstead State Park
Six miles northwest of Raleigh off Highway 70
At the visitors center pick up a map of the 17 miles of shaded trails that cover the scenic park.

Durham

American Tobacco Trail
Downtown Durham, Durham Bulls Athletic Park
Start at the baseball field and make your way south down a 6 mile trail that takes you to Hillside High School and beyond.

Duke Gardens
Durham, Anderson Street, just behind Duke University
Enjoy the outdoors while taking in the beautiful views and scenery offered by the Duke Gardens.

Chapel Hill

Battle Park
Country Club Road in the midst of the University of North Carolina Campus
A 93 acre park located right in the middle of Chapel Hill that has plenty of shaded and hilly trails for runners and walkers who love the beautiful setting of running in an old forest.

Cary

Annie Jones Greenway
The corner of Cary Parkway and Lake Pine Drive.
This greenway consists of four trails totaling 1.26 miles of paved and crushed stone paths.

Black Creek Greenway
Across from Godbold Park between Harrison Avenue and Chapel Hill Road.
This trail features a 3.5 miles of asphalt surface and includes an observation deck that overlooks Lake Crabtree.
