Eligible staff or faculty celebrating a five-year anniversary in 2008 automatically receive an attractive package
that contains a Lucite frame with certificate and customized key chain. This gift will be shipped to the department
head or department designee for distribution in May 2008.
Those celebrating a milestone of 10 years or longer will be able to view items within both jewelry and non-jewelry
categories before deciding on their gift selection. Within the custom jewelry category, celebrants may choose a
Duke or Health System lapel pin or charm as their gift. Alternatively, celebrants may choose another type of item
from a non-jewelry category. The gift selection options vary based on years of service.
**Individuals on leave for more than 365 consecutive days are not eligible to order a gift.
Career service milestones provide an excellent opportunity to recognize and thank your staff. We recommend that
the five year gifts and 10-plus year presentation packets are given out to employees with some degree of ceremony.
Some departments have a luncheon to recognize all celebrants, others set aside time at a regular staff meeting for a
little presentation. If possible, try to do your presentations in May as this is the month which Duke places a special
focus on employee recognition activities.

Career Service Awards
Eligible staff or faculty members celebrating an anniversary of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 50 years in 2008
will have the opportunity to select a gift to recognize their years of service.
Eligible celebrants of 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 50 years of service will receive a customized brochure which will include their certificate.
Selection packages will be shipped to the department head or department designee for presentation in
May 2008. Selection packages
will be delivered to the home address of celebrants who are on leave of absence (less than 365 consecutive days).
Eligible celebrants will be able to select their shipping address. Selected gifts should ship within 2 weeks of
placing the order to designated shipping address.

Eligibility Requirements
- Must be celebrating 5 years of service and above (in 5 year increments) in the current year.
- Must work 20 hours or greater.
- Contract workers, casual labor, temporary employees and house staff are not eligible.
- Staff and faculty on leave more than 365 consecutive days are not eligible.
- Staff and faculty with zero rate of pay are not eligible.
Please note that Durham Regional Hospital does not participate in Duke's career service award program. Please contact
