First Time Supervisor Program
Curriculum Overview
Before the start of the program, each participant will complete assessments to help identify strengths and developmental needs. They'll also participate in individual
coaching sessions to design a customized development plan.
Participants will attend courses that meet the core objectives of the program on topics including managing difficult work relationships, project management and financial management.
Participants will attend some classes offered by Learning & Organization Development to help meet the needs of their individual development plan.
All participants are required to complete Guide to Managing at Duke, a three-day management training program.
Team projects and individual on-the-job stretch assignments will provide participants with opportunities to apply knowledge and skills they will obtain during the program.
