As you become more familiar with the changes in the Health
System, you'll hear the words linkage and alignment
a good deal. That's because DUHS is aligning (or linking)
all goalsfrom Health System, to entity, to unit, and
finally, to the individualas shown in this graphic.

Notice on the graphic that the arrows connecting each
of the boxes go both up and down. That is meant to show that
when the system succeeds, you succeed, and conversely, it's
you that help the organization to succeed.
You might be wondering how performance management and pay
fit in. They are shown as the two bright blue bars at the
bottom and to the right of this graphic.
Our performance management process helps to ensure that goals
are linked and aligned. Through performance management, we
look at individual goals, team goals, department goals, etc.
and ensure that they are aligned and support one another in
a way that points DUHS in the right direction.
Note that the individual box on this graphic contains two
words, job results, and behaviors. Performance
expectations for all employees across the health system are
based not only on what the individual does (i.e., produces
results on the job) but on how they do their job (i.e., the
behaviors that they demonstrate as they do their job).
With Pay & Performance, employees will be evaluated on both their outcomes
and their behaviors. Employees will be considered to have "exceeded expectations"
only if they exceed in both outcomes and behaviors.
By linking pay with performance and rewarding those who meet
specific goals, we ensure optimal performance across the health
system.
