September Walks
Team up with the Live for Life staff for two special walks in September. Stop at the Live for Life tent at the Market for suggestions on how to prepare for your walk. Sign up to join a team to walk at one or both walks and help raise funds for research and education.

Walk for Lungs & Air
September 19th 9 to 11 am - American Lung Association's Walk for Lungs & Air
Location: NCSU's Centennial Campus

Heart Walk
September 27 2 to 5 pm - American Heart Association
2009 Start! Triangle Heart Walk
Location: RBC Center in Raleigh

The last market of the 2009 season highlights the best, flavorful fruits and vegetables grown during early fall in North Carolina. Locally grown food is picked at the height of freshness and brought directly to our Duke Farmers Market, often making it to the market within 24 hours of being picked. Celebrate the Fall Harvest Festival at the Market on Friday, September 11 from 11 am to 2 pm. This year's Locavore theme highlights our theme of purchasing and eating locally grown foods from North Carolina.

Highlights

Locavore Snap Shots at Each Tent

Farm views at each local farmer's tent & restaurant locators at each lunch vendor stand!

Old Time Music Under the WHITE TENT

Professor Rytas Vilgalys from the Biology Department will again gather some friends to bring us authentic "old-time" music. Watch and listen as the "Boiled Cabbages" play Old Time Strings Music. They perform music from the last century, or even the one before that is played in the "old-time swing style". The feeling of the music is always authentic.

FOOD and FUN for our FUNDRAISER at the FARMERS MARKET Help the Duke Heart Center's Community Outreach and Education Program raise funds for the American Heart Association's START! Triangle Metro Heart Walk.
