Lactation Rooms
Lactation Rooms - Duke provides lactation rooms
for faculty and staff to support women balancing their return to work with their
needs as mothers of young children. Each room offers a clean, secure, and
user-friendly environment for women who need to express breast milk during their
work shift.
Classes & Support Groups
Prenatal Classes
- The Teer House is proud to offer prenatal classes to Duke employees. These classes cover a wide array of
topics, including labor and delivery, baby care, breast-feeding, and child/infant safety.
Support
Groups - The Teer House offers a listing of support groups for new and
expectant parents. Theses groups are sponsored by various departments throughout
Duke University Medical Center and the community.
Postpartum Support
Postpartum Support International
- The Postpartum Support International web site provides information on the
treatment of postpartum mood disorders, including baby blues, postpartum
depression and postpartum psychosis. The site also includes listings of US
support groups with links to international support resources for postpartum
depression, as well as books and communication forums devoted to postpartum
depression.
Durham Connects
- Durham Connects is a collaboration of Duke University, the Center for Child and Family Health and the Durham County
Health Department. Durham Connects brings Families, Community agencies and Healthcare providers together to give babies the best environment
for growth. Durham Connects nurtures this growth by visiting parents and babies in their own homes and connecting them with community supports.
