Stress is a fact of life. But when you have too much or it lasts too long, stress can take a physical and psychological toll on your health and well-being. It can aggravate existing medical conditions or create new ones. Family, finances and work issues usually top the list of causes of stress. It is important to find a healthy balance in your life. Learning how to manage your stress is your best method of treatment as well as prevention. Here are some resources and tips to help you manage your stress:

Classes

Classes are scheduled at  your convenience. Most classes are 60 minutes long but they can also be expanded or shortened according to your interests.  Classes are free of charge but require a minimum of 12 participants (Small departments may be combined). Call us at 684-3136 (Option 1) for more information.

Stress Management

  1. Coping With Change: For most people change is a difficult process.  To thrive during change, individuals must develop a direction so they keep in perspective what is important.  In this class, you will look at several models of change and develop a plan of action.
  2. Relaxation Techniques: Stress takes a toll on our health and quality of life.  Learn skills to increase your stress hardiness and practice specific techniques to reduce stress on the spot.
  3. The Power Of Positive Thinking: "Attitude is everything." is a familiar saying with a great deal of wisdom.  Learn the components of a positive attitude and how to focus on the things you control.
  4. Time Management:  As we try to do more with less resources, time management is more important than ever.  This class will cover setting priorities, organizing information, and how to ensure that the most important priorities are taken care of. Dealing with procrastination and interruptions are also covered.

Team Building

  1. Effective Communication: What style of communication do you use most often and is it effective?  This class covers different communication styles and stresses use of "I" statements, good listening  skills, and non-verbal communication.
  2. Conflict Resolution: Conflict happens in all work settings.  How do you resolve conflicts and not harm relationships? Learn conflict resolution skills along with how to deal with difficult people.
