IWGS New Waterlily Competition Returns to Duke Gardens
The International Waterlily and Water Gardening Society's annual New Waterlily Competition is returning to Duke Gardens this summer! This contest draws entries from skilled waterlily hybridizers around the world and is designed to promote interest in developing new colors, forms and sizes of both tropical and hardy waterlilies.
These one-of-a-kind lilies will be on display in the Fish Pool at the base of the Historic Terraces from July through September. Visitors are invited to see these new hybrids up close this summer and to choose their favorites as part of the third annual People's Choice Awards. Votes can be cast in person using ballots or here on our website.
A panel of IWGS judges will award prizes for the Best New Hardy Waterlily, Best New Tropical Waterlily, and Best New Waterlily Overall in mid-August. Visit www.iwgs.org for the official judging results, and visit our website in September for the results of the People's Choice Awards. Don't miss the chance to see these stunning new hybrids for yourself.
